Brief Bio
David Andrews is Professor of Chemical Physics at the University of East Anglia, where his group conducts research on fundamental photonics, optomechanical forces, optical vortices, nonlinear optics, energy harvesting and molecular energy transport.  He has a dozen books and 300 research papers to his name.  David Andrews is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, the Royal Society of Chemistry, and SPIE - the international optics and photonics society.

Paulo Ribeiro received the PhD degree in Materials Sciences and Engineering by Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil. He is Professor at Department of Physics of Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, since 2000, where he has been dedicated to lecturing applied optics and photonics and organizing didactic sessions and expositions in the field of optical sciences. He is Founding member, in 2008, of the Functional Molecular Systems research Group at Centre of Physics and Technological Research of Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where he is engaged in the development and characterization of thin films of organic functional molecules for applications in optics and photonics. He has been conference chair of PHOTOPTICS, an international conference series on photonics, optics and laser technology, and as a result of his research activities garnered over 100 papers and communications in international journals and conferences. ... Maria Raposo received the PhD degree in Materials Sciences and Engineering by Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil in 1999 and, since 2000, is professor at Physics Department of Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, lecturing Solid State Physics, Surface and Interfaces Technology, Conducting Polymers, Molecular Electronics and Physics of Functional Macromoleculares Systems. Since 2008 is head of the Functional Molecular Systems group which research interests include electric and optical properties of ultra-thin films of polymers and biomolecules, interfaces and nano-technology, colloids, molecular architectures for electronics, photonics and magnetism, biomimetic membranes and radiation effect in biological systems. She had several chapters of books and an half hundred of research papers, has been supervisor of Postdocs, PhD students, Master students and undergraduate students, has been coordinator and participant of projects with financial support and has been participant of European Scientific Networks. ... Brief Bio

Paulo Marques was born in Coruche, Portugal, in 1968. He received a PhD in Physics (2000) from the University of Porto, Portugal. Currently is an Assistant Professor at the Physics and Astronomy Department at Porto University.
Since July 2000 he develops research activity in the Optoelectronics and Electronics Systems Unit (UOSE) of INESC PORTO. His research activities include hybrid sol-gel based waveguides, optical photosensitivity, Bragg gratings, integrated optical sensors and laser direct wr ting techniques for integrated optics and microfabrication in general.
Since October 2009 is the coordinator of the Optoelectronics and Electronics Systems Unit of INESC Porto.
